AUTO RACING: National Grand Prix "Round the Republic," Buenos Aires (starts Dec. 7).
BOATING: A popular pastime with residents of the pampa provinces of Argentina. They flock to boat clubs such as those in Tigre on the Paran� delta (near Buenos Aires) to use their canoes, rowboats and sailing dinghies. (The summer season on the Paran� delta starts in December.) Competitive yachting events are numerous on the coastal areas of Argentina and this season's main events include: South American Lightning class trials ( Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador), Olivos Yacht Club, Buenos Aires (Jan. 12-27); South American Lightning class championships, Buenos Aires (Feb. 10-17); Argentine Grumete class championships, N�utico San Isidro, Buenos Aires (March 16-24); autumn championship for 5.5 meters, Dragons, Finns, Grumetes and Cadetes, Argentino Yacht Club, Buenos Aires (March 23-April 7); Argentine championships for Penguin-Chifl�n class, Olivos Yacht Club, Buenos Aires (March 30 and April 14); and Argentine championships for Yola class, N�utico San Isidro, Buenos Aires (April 20-27).
FOOTBALL (SOCCER): Argentina vs. Chile, Buenos Aires (Nov. 21). The 1963 season opens at the end of April.
GOLF: Canada Cup Matches, Jockey Club, Buenos Aires (Nov. 8-11); Argentine Open Championship, Ituzaing� Golf Club, San Antonio de Padua (Nov. 22-25). The Central Republic Championship will be held during Holy Week at Villa Allende, near C�rdoba, and the Southern Republic Championship will be played at Mar del Plata Golf Club during February.
HORSE RACING: Derby International Grand Prix "Carlos Pellegrini," 10 million pesos, 3-year-olds and up, three kilometers, San Isidro Jockey Club track, Buenos Aires (Nov. 25); "Premio Comparaci�n," best 3- and 4-year-olds, two kilometers, San Isidro Jockey Club track, Buenos Aires (Dec. 12); Derby International Grand Prix "25 de Mayo," 10 million pesos, 3-year-olds, San Isidro Jockey Club track, Buenos Aires (May 25).
POLO: Main season extends from mid-November to Mid-December. The matches are played in and around Buenos Aires, with the Argentine Open Championship taking place at the Palermo Polo Ground in late November.
BOLIVIA
BASKETBALL: La Paz Basketball League championship begins in mid-May, with games every Friday and Sunday at Coliseo Cerrado, La Paz.
FOOTBALL (SOCCER): The South American Championship ( Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Peru) will be held at La Paz Stadium in mid-March and will last about three weeks. Starting in early May, La Paz Soccer League games will be held every Sunday through September at La Paz Stadium.
