Aftab Jawaid, an airline employee from Karachi, went to England for the British Amateur Squash Racquets Championships and became the first Pakistani to win the title, defeating Tewfik Shafik of the United Arab Republic 7-9, 9-2, 5-9, 9-4, 9-5 in the finals.

Martha Gibson, a Palm Beach ( Fla.) mother of three and a housewife who has been deep-sea fishing for 10 years but never in competition, won the International Women's Fishing Association's bill-fish tournament in Palm Beach with three sailfish.

Robert Frainey, pro at the Thorns Lea Golf Club in Brockton, Mass., won the PGA National Match Play Championship 3 and 2 over Jack McGowan of Largo, Fla. on the 6,600-yard east course at the new PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Bill McClellon, 16, a 5-foot-11 sophomore at New York's DeWitt Clinton High, leaped 6 feet 7� inches in the Cardinal Hayes track meet in New York City to break the national indoor schoolboy high-jump record of 6 feet 7� inches established by John Thomas in 1958.

Larry Miller, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound senior at Catasauqua (Pa.) High whose scholastic average (90) and basketball average (33.6) have earned him 120 college scholarship offers, led his team to a 67-65 win over Bethlehem (Pa.) High with 32 points and 26 rebounds.
