Gus Blass III, a 16-year-old marksman from Little Rock, Ark., was the junior champion at the Mid-America Skeet Shoot in Detroit and also managed to gain a tie in the 12-gauge event with seven-time All-America Bob Schuley after a three-hour shoot-oil.

Mrs. Anna Marie Robbins, a 44-year-old grandmother, was the manager, catcher and leading hitter (.409) for the Carlisle (Iowa) Independents Softball team which took the state title with an 8-7 triumph over Greenwood, the winner the past 10 years in a row.

David Hackney, 9, of Laurinburg. N.C., is a multitalented young athlete who finished first in two races during a July 4th swimming meet, bowled a 222 game and is leading his baseball team in hitting with a resounding batting average of .714.

Bob Cummings, 14, was a versatile baseball player for St. Gregory's School in Phoenix, Ariz., slugging 10 homers, batting .68 I and, as a pitcher, compiling a 14-1 record and an 0.27 ERA. plus striking out 182 batters in 73 innings and pitching a total of five no-hitters.

Allen Coage, a 245-pound judo competitor from St. Albans, N.Y., established himself as a top contender for the world heavyweight title by taking the gold medal at the Pan American Championship Tournament for the second year in succession, this time in San Juan, P.R.

Albert Kaplan of Albuquerque was recently deployed to South Korea with his Air National Guard unit, halting his career as tennis coach at High-land High, where he had a 272-16 record and had won 14 state titles, 72 tournaments and his last 108 matches.
