carrying the Angels to yet another defeat, Pitcher Jim Maloney sat
contemplating the humming Chicago traffic. " Alex Johnson," he said,
just trying the name out. " Alex Johnson. Now that's not a difficult name,
not a name like Yastrzemski or something like that." Maloney seemed onto
something. "You know, it's really just a simple name."
Just a simple name
for a complex and troubled man whom no one, Alex Johnson least of all, can
appreciated the irony of that.
