New York State racetrack rules require that when a ticket seller hits the wrong button and a wrong ticket consequently pops out of the slot, the seller must pay for the ticket. So when a bettor at Finger Lakes Race Track asked for five tickets on Horse No. 4, and instead got five on Horse No. 5, the seller, Mrs. Harrison Reed, assumed she was out $50. Actually, she was in $1,015. The wrong horse won.
