Keith Cardon, a junior tackle at Sheldon High in Eugene, Ore., has scored three of the five touchdowns the school's defensive unit has made. He has runs of 58, 32 and 28 yards for a team which statistically has the best all-round defense in its district.

Paul Murphy, a Providence (R.I.) College senior, carded an even-par 72 over the Cooperstown (N.Y.) Country Club golf course to win the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship by one stroke—the first time a Friar golfer has won.

Jim Reinhart, of Lincoln High in Sioux Falls, set a South Dakota cross-country state-meet record with a 10:34.6 clocking for 2.2 miles. It was the third straight time he has won the championship and it extended his unbeaten record to 36 over three years.

Cliff Tinkle, of Johnstown, Pa., sank his third hole-in-one in a year at the North Fork Country Club. All were on the 140-yard 2nd hole and he used an eight-iron for each shot. The last two came within one week. His score on each of the three rounds was a 77.

Walter Ulbrich, of Howard Beach, N.Y., won the 14th annual One Wall National Handball Association singles title by defeating Charlie Sheldon 21-4, 21-13. He then teamed with Mark Levine to win the doubles by beating Ruby Obert and Howie Eisenberg.
