Top dogs on the hockey scene this year are the centers. Mark Mulvoy finds the wings, on the outside, less effective as he looks over young players shaping up as new stars.

Hot dogs are no longer sausage sandwiches. They are now the new breed of stunt skiers—kids infected with something rightly called "the free spirit of thrashing around."

Real dogs are on hand for the Westminster, the country's oldest dog show, which goes on for so long it is almost an endurance event, says Robert Boyle, who endures it for SI.
