As the Pacer cheerleaders switched to "Four in '74" shirts, Kentucky fans were left wondering what sort of team they would have next season, or whether they would have any team at all. There was talk that Colonel President Mike Storen was working on a regional-type franchise, with the Colonels playing some of their home games in Cincinnati and Lexington. For the Kentucky players, however, there was one certainty. A message chalked on the blackboard in the dressing room read: "Practice begins Sept. 13."
