Holly Martino, 12, of McKeesport, Pa., picked up four gold medals and one silver in gymnastics and a bronze in trampoline at a Junior Olympics contest in Pittsburgh. She placed first in the all-around gymnastics and in floor exercise, uneven bars and vault.

Bobby Foran, 10, a pitcher for the Kenilworth, Ill. Pee Wee League, fanned 111 batters in 38 innings this season. In his best performance he struck out 18 and allowed one hit in a 5-0 victory. Bobby also led the club in hitting in the playoffs with .750.

Betsy Pepper, a freshman at the Lakeside School in Seattle, captured the state girls' prep tennis championship 9-7, 6-3 over Diane Thompson of Tacoma. Besides her tennis achievements, Betsy was named to all-league volleyball and basketball squads.

Deborah Ann Lamb, 14, of Carlisle, Iowa, scored highest among 270 competitors at the Eighth International Shooting Education Championships for small-bore air rifles in Tempe, Ariz. She fired 99 prone, 98-1x sitting, 95-1x kneeling and 96-1x standing.

Shawna Delaney, an eighth-grader at Rockwood School in Portland, Ore., won the long jump, 100-yard dash, and ran anchor on the winning 440-yard relay team in the Multnomah County girls' championship. She was the leading scorer on her 9-0 basketball team.

James Blair, 18, of Ogden, became the youngest to take the Utah Amateur golf title. Blair easily won five straight matches in the match-play event, winning the 36-hole final 5-4 after posting an eight-under-par 64 on the first 18 holes at Wasatch State Park.
