Wanda Oliver, of Eastern Washington State, in Cheney, broke a National Rifle Association small-bore mark and also U.S. women's records by firing 300x300 plus four 10s from standing position. The ROTC cadet tied the 20-shot kneeling record of 199.

Tom Johnston, 14, of Davey Junior High in Kent, Ohio, ended a three-year wrestling career with a 24-1-1 record (13-0 this season) and a second straight 78-pound title in the Kent Freshman Invitational. He holds the school mark for fastest pin—12 seconds.

Renie Mullen, a senior at William Tennent High in Warminster, Pa., led her swim team to a 15-0 record and league championship, closing the season at the Pennsylvania high school competition with state and national marks of 24.5 for the 50-yard freestyle.

Elijah Emanuel, a freshman forward at North Florida Junior College in Madison, set a school single-game scoring record of 55, hitting 22 of 29 field goals against Florida College, bringing his season average to 18.2 points for the 22-11 Sentinels.

Stan Wisniewski Jr., 15, of Sierra Madre, Calif., smashed the Junior Boys' 16-lap national indoor speed-skating record by almost four seconds at the state championships in Anaheim, covering the mile at Glacier Falls Ice Arena in 2:52.1.
