Mike Taylor, 27, of Meridian, Miss., who played on the Brigham Young golf team with Johnny Miller and Buddy Allin, won his third straight—and seventh lifetime—state amateur title, shooting a three-over-par 283 for 72 holes at Northwood Country Club.

Budd Rice Jr., a sophomore at Cranberry High in Seneca, Pa., outpointed 300,000 participants in the Marine Corps' nationwide Youth Physical Fitness Program. Rice scored 474 out of a possible 500 points and helped his school take the team trophy.

Cindy Moran, 15, of Beverly, Mass., captured all-around honors at the New England AAU senior gymnastics competition, with firsts in the side-horse vault, uneven parallel bars, balance beam and floor exercise, pacing her team to the division title.

Mark Wilson, 17, competing in the Fresno Relays for Monte Vista High, Danville, Calif., cleared 7'1�" in the high jump to better the national prep mark of 7'1�" set in 1971 by Dwight Stones. A flopper, like Stones, Wilson's previous best had been 6'11".

Mike Roberson, 18, led his Winter Park ( Fla.) High track team to the state championship with wins in the 220-yard dash and 120-yard high hurdles and a second in the 100-yard dash. His season bests are 9.5 in the 100, 21.2 in the 220 and 13.9 for the hurdles.

Lloyd Osborne, 65, of Kailua, Hawaii, won all five freestyle events in the 65-69 age group at the National AAU Masters Short Course swimming championships in Fort Lauderdale, with records at 200, 500 and 1,650 yards, gaining "All-American" honors.
