Bonita Goode, a sophomore at Blue-stone Senior High in Skipwith, Va., set a school basketball record of 52 points in a 77-75 defeat of Greensville High. The 5'6�" co-captain was on the 1974 All-District team and has a 34-point average this season.
Daniel Tveit, 7, of St. Paul, Minn. became the youngest winner ever at the 31st annual St. Paul Winter Carnival ice-fishing contest by catching a three-pound, seven-ounce Northern pike one hour after the derby began at White Bear Lake with 6,000 anglers competing.
Scott Simpson and his brother Dave, both members of the golf team at the University of Southern California, each shot a final-round, four-under-par 68 at the Gary Sanders Memorial collegiate invitational at Silver Lakes, Calif., tying the course record held by Al Geiberger, a former Trojan golfer. Scott, a junior and the Pacific Eight champion, won the individual title with a 54-hole total of 220. Dave, a sophomore, shot a 225, good for fifth place. USC took the team championship with a 904 score, beating San Diego State by 10 strokes.
Jeff Burroughs, a sophomore at River-view Gardens High in St. Louis, bowled back to back 300 games in the Junior Archway tournament in Florissant, Mo. Jeff placed fourth in the event, averaging 233.5 in his 10-game series. His 1974-75 average is 221.
Wendy Truska, 14, of Memphis, an eighth-grader, won the girls' city high school cross-country title to culminate an undefeated local scholastic season. Truska placed second in the West Tennessee regional meet and 10th in the state girls' high school championships.
