Rhonda Rape, a fifth-grader from Cherry Creek Rapids, Colo., held 12 top-10 U.S. age-group swim rankings in 1975. In the backstroke she set a 10-and-under record in the 50-meter (34.58) and had first-place times in the 50-yard (31.36) and 100-meter (1:15.66).

Rhonda Rape, a fifth-grader from Cherry Creek Rapids, Colo., held 12 top-10 U.S. age-group swim rankings in 1975. In the backstroke she set a 10-and-under record in the 50-meter (34.58) and had first-place times in the 50-yard (31.36) and 100-meter (1:15.66).

Dave DeBol, a sophomore center for the University of Michigan hockey team, set a national collegiate record by scoring three goals in 59 seconds during a 6-4 loss to Michigan Tech. DeBol is the Wolverines' scoring leader with 31 goals and 18 assists, and has four hat tricks.

Marvin Johnson, a sophomore at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas, is the nation's top junior-college basketball scorer. Through 28 games the 6'5" forward averaged 32.4 points and shot 57%. He also leads the Hawks in rebounds with 11 per game.

Bob Schneider, girls' basketball coach at Canyon (Texas) High for 10 years, qualified his team for the Class AAA playoffs for the eighth year in a row. During his tenure the Eagles have won 82.9% of their games, including three state championships.

Vonnie Coker, a senior at Woodbury ( N.J.) High, set South Jersey indoor schoolgirl marks in the 50-yard low hurdles (:07.5), 50-yard dash (:06.1) and 600-yard run (1:27.4) at the Glassboro State Indoor Games. She co-holds the state outdoor 100-yard mark (10.9).

Scott Mesler, a senior at Lawrence (Kans.) High, broke the nine-year-old state record of 8.70 in the pommel horse when he scored 8.75 in a triangular gymnastics meet at Overland Park. Both Mesler and the Lions are undefeated after five meets this season.
