When he was advised in Minnesota last week that two of the newer rumors had him on his way to the Giants and the Mets, he merely shrugged and, quoting David Harum, said, "All I know is what I read in the papers." Then he smiled confidently. "But I guess you'd have to say I've got a little leverage."

Enough, he might have added, so that his strugglin' days are behind him.
