Los ALTOS, CALIF.
A member of the Arrow Track Club, Laura, 12, is the national record holder for 10-and-11-year-old girls' 50-yard hurdles, with a time of 7.2 seconds. A seventh-grader at Egan Junior High, she has long-jumped 16'1�" and high-jumped 4'9".

JAY BELLISSIMO
CINCINNATI
A pitcher in Knothole baseball, Jay, 13, averaged more than 10 strikeouts a game and threw seven no-hitters, four of them consecutively. He struck out 246 batters in 151 innings en route to a 29-0 record, leading his team to a 37-0 season.

TOM KAFKA
MORAGA, CALIF.
Tom, 10, swam to a national age-group record in the 100-meter breast-stroke (1:25.07) and a pending one in the 50-meter (38.37) at the Far Western Championships. He was second in the 100-meter freestyle and 200 IM.

MARTIN FLEISHER
TEANECK, N.J.
Fleisher, 18, was the youngest player ever to reach the finals of a North American Team Bridge Championship. His team beat Detroit and Miami, then lost to a Los Angeles squad that included two members of the world champion U.S. team.

MIKE INMAN
SIOUX CITY, IOWA
A sophomore at North High, Mike, 15, won all five matches he entered in the Sioux City Closed Tennis Tournament. He won the boys' 16-and-under and 18-and-under singles, men's singles, the boys' 16-and-under doubles and men's doubles.
