Grogan, 21, a light middleweight who is ranked No. 1 in the U.S. by the National Amateur Boxers and Coaches Association, defeated Martina Daniels in Atlanta to win his fifth straight Georgia Golden Gloves championship. He has won 42 fights.

SAN DIEGO
Harper, a 28-year-old dry-wall contractor, hit 98 out of 100 clay targets to win the Spring Grand American Handicap championship in Phoenix. His score was the best among the 1,025 entries in the three-day trapshooting event.

BOBBY ELSNER
NEW LONDON, WIS.
Elsner, 35, driving an Arctic Cat, won the 16th annual World Snowmobile championship in Eagle River, Wis. The current SnoPro Driver of the Year, he set a track record of 4:59.16 for the 7�-mile circuit. His average speed was 94 mph.

SEABROOK, TEXAS
Danya, competing in her first marathon, won the AAU National Junior Women's Marathon for runners 18 and under in Houston. The 17-year-old Clear Lake High senior finished in 3:15.53, 29 minutes ahead of runner-up Diana Kokernot.

DAVID STRAUSS
RANDALSTOWN, MD.
David, a junior at Randalstown High, rolled a three-game series of 532 to set a duckpin-bowling record for 18-and-under boys. In one 202 game, he rolled four strikes and six spares, the second all-mark game in duckpin youth and junior history.
