The doctor blinks again. "I don't work that way," he says, and walks out of the room.

A yellow haze fills the sky as Strange walks quickly across the doctor's parking lot to his pickup, which he calls Star Truck. He turns to Sommer Shadoe, his friend, bodyguard and companion, and tells her the bad news. Sommer Shadoe is a lithe, stark beauty with a butterfly tattoo on her left breast and a bumblebee tattoo on her right hip.

As they drive off, Shadoe quietly begins to cry.

"Awww, don't do that," says Strange. "Let's see a smile."

Shadoe smiles.

"A bigger one."

"No."

They drive along in silence.

"I think I want to go out tonight and get skunked," says Shadoe.

More driving; more silence.
