Joey broke the AAU nine-and-under record for the long jump, leaping 15'11�" at a meet in San Antonio and has tied the high-jump mark of 4'11" three times. At the National AAU Boys' Age-Group meet in Omaha, he won both events.

Jamie, 6, won the nine-and-under division of the Ninth Annual Minneapolis Aquatennial Milk Carton Boat Race. Aided by his father, who helped paddle and build the 21-by-5-carton vessel, Jamie won the 75-yard race by 30 yards.

Joanie, 12, pitched three no-hitters, including one in which she struck out all 21 batters, for her Bobby Sox softball team. She then threw six straight shutouts that included another no-hitter, for the San Mateo All-Stars.
