What was your
welcome to pro bowling moment?
Qualifying for
the last tournament in 1979. I won the qualifier, so I also got an exemption
for the next year's first tournament. I was 17, but guys didn't dare give me a
hard time because of Dad [bowling great Dick Weber]. They were awful nice to
me.
Most embarrassing
moment?
After I won the
1991 U.S. Open, I went to lift the trophy over my head. The eagle toppled down
and busted into a million pieces. People came up and grabbed pieces to take
home.
One thing about
pro bowling fans don't think about?
We have
superstitions. Mine is that neither my wife nor I can wear red during a
televised match. Unless it's for a "one" title--my first title I was
wearing red, 11th title was in red, 21st in red.
If I weren't a
pro bowler, I'd be ...
dead! No, I'd say
a pro wrestler, but at 5'7" I'm not big enough. So something in public
relations.
LAST WEEK

City Classic.
THIS WEEK

last season.
