WRIGHTSVILLE, PA. > Basketball
Vican, a freshman forward at Northwood, became the first Seahawks athlete to be named the Florida Sun Conference rookie and player of the year. She led the conference with an average of 14.9 points, reached double figures in scoring 22 times and scored 20 or more points in seven games this season.

CLAYTON, N.C. > Track and Field
Johnny, a senior at Clayton High, won the 55-meter hurdles in a meet-record time of 7.11 at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4-A Indoor State Championships. In January he set a national high school 55-meter hurdles record of 7.07.

Shamsu Awudu
ACCRA, GHANA > Volleyball
Awudu, a senior opposite hitter at California Baptist, topped the Lancers with 13 kills and led the NAIA's three-time defending champions in a three-game sweep of the NCAA's No. 1--ranked Brigham Young. It's believed to be the first time in 24 years that an NAIA team defeated the top-rated NCAA Division I program.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. > Swimming
Marshall, a sophomore at Texas A&M, won the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard freestyle and finished second in the 200-yard butterfly as the Aggies won their first Big 12 women's swimming and diving championship. She was named Big 12 swimmer of the meet.

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA > WRESTLING
Miller, a senior at Wartburg College, defeated Ben Strandberg of Buena Vista to win the NCAA Division III national 197-pound title and help the Knights to a second-place team finish. Miller, the nation's No. 1--ranked wrestler at his weight, finished the season with a record of 26--0.
