The Red Wings potentially made the steal of the trade deadline in landing winger Todd Bertuzzi. He's thrilled to be in Detroit, and his new teammates are just as excited to have his forechecking ability. Don't be surprised if Bertuzzi, 32, re-signs with the Red Wings instead of exploring unrestricted free agency this summer.... It's time for the NHL to institute no-touch icing. In a Feb. 27 game Senators winger Chris Neil and Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason raced to reach the puck first to get the call. Both crashed into the end boards at high speed, and Gleason had to leave the game.... Newly acquired left wing Gary Roberts is a perfect fit for the Penguins, but it took a lot of persuading by the Pittsburgh brass to get him to waive his no-trade clause and leave the Panthers. After owner Mario Lemieux and right wing Mark Recchi made calls to Roberts, Penguins G.M. Ray Shero sealed the deal by selling the 40-year-old forward on the lasting impact he would have on young stars like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal. That sense of legacy appealed to Roberts, and he waived his no-trade.... The NHL did the right thing by suspending Devils tough guy Cam Janssen for three games after his brutal cheap shot on Maple Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle (who suffered a concussion) last Friday. However, the more impressive responses were those made by the coaches immediately after the hit. New Jersey's Claude Julien benched Janssen for the remainder of the game, and Toronto's Paul Maurice told his team to play for a victory and not focus on seeking revenge. The Leafs rallied from a two-goal deficit to win in a shootout.
