Ackley, a first baseman at No. 2 North Carolina, was Atlantic Coast Conference
Player of the Week for the second consecutive time, hitting .581 in 43 at bats
during that span. The freshman had a 28-game hitting streak, leads the ACC with
49 RBIs and his .489 average ranks second in the nation.
Scott Rigsby
ATLANTA > Running
Rigsby, 38, a full-time triathlete who lost both his legs as the result of a
car accident 21 years ago, ran the inaugural ING Georgia Marathon in 5:04:21,
becoming the world's first below-the-knee double amputee to complete a
marathon. He is also the first double-leg amputee to finish a half ironman.

Kamorean Hayes

Kamorean, a senior at Harding High, won her third consecutive Nike Indoor
Nationals championship in the shot put. She has set North Carolina records
indoors in the shot (52'6 1/2"; tied for sixth best of all time) and
outdoors in the discus throw (162'10").

Priscilla Ribic
SPOKANE > Powerlifting
Ribic, a 34-year-old project manager for a technology company, is the
International Powerlifting Federation's alltime highest ranked female. The 2006
IPF Open World Champion of Champions holds three world records in the
148.5-pound weight class: squat (546.5 pounds), deadlift (551) and total lift
(1,388.75).
Katie Heenan
SOUTH RIDING, VA. > Gymnastics
Heenan, a junior at Georgia, is the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the
Year. The two-time All America became only the second Gym Dog gymnast with two
all-around titles when she tied with teammate Courtney Kupets at the SEC
championship. She has scored at least 9.9 in all four events this season.
Matt Ballenger
NAMPA, IDAHO > Basketball
Matt, a senior guard at Skyview High, was named Idaho's Gatorade Player of the
Year for the second time. He was a first-team all state selection three times
and finished his career with a school-record 1,994 points. He was also
Skyview's starting quarterback and will attend Colorado on a football
scholarship in the fall.
