Mano a Manu
Battling for a rebound with Utah forward Matt Harpring (left) and Spurs teammate Robert Horry, swingman Manu Ginbili (20) took a shot to the head last Saturday during Game 3 of the Western Conference finals in Salt Lake City (page 54). The Jazz won 109--83, but San Antonio prevailed on Monday 91--79 to stretch its series lead to three games to one.

Switch Pitcher
Creighton junior reliever Pat Venditte is the man with two golden arms—and a glove (inset) that allows him to pitch with either one. At week's end he was 8--2 with a 1.83 ERA and four saves. Making his first collegiate start last Saturday, in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship against Wichita State, Venditte threw 62 pitches lefthanded and 30 righthanded, struck out 10 and left in the seventh with a 6--1 lead (though his scoreless-inning streak did end at 43 2/3). The Blue Jays held on to win 10--9 to gain their first MVC title and an NCAA tournament berth.

Euro Big Star
AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi (center, white shirt) beat Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina and celebrated the first of his two goals in the UEFA Champions League final on May 23 at Olympic Stadium in Athens. Avenging a stunning loss on penalty kicks two years earlier, Milan and midfielder Kak (inset) won 2--1 to earn Europe's most prestigious club title.
