With the nonwaiver trade deadline next Tuesday, the market for the Rangers' Mark Teixeira (right) heated up at week's end. Texas talked to the Orioles about dealing Teixeira, a Maryland native, for a package including Baltimore starter Daniel Cabrera.... The Dodgers were considering a deal that would send infielder Wilson Betemit to the Royals for reliever Octavio Dotel, who was also being pursued by the Indians and Red Sox.... The Yankees rebuffed the Devil Rays' offer of infielder Ty Wigginton for reliever Scott Proctor but would trade him for Betemit.... The Diamondbacks entertained proposals for righty Livan Hernandez. Other viable starters on the block: Matt Morris (Giants), Jose Contreras (White Sox), Jason Jennings (Rockies) and Kyle Lohse (Reds).
