What the QBs Give

EAGER TO keep on good terms with the mountains of muscle who protect their highly paid butts, NFL quarterbacks bestow gifts on their offensive linemen at season's end. Peyton Manning has given out clothing and trips to the Pro Bowl; this year, after calling out his O-line following the Colts' playoff loss, he may need to consult Kobe Bryant's jeweler about a makeup present. Neither the Seahawks' Matt Hasselbeck--who has given meat lockers full of steaks in the past--nor Steeler Ben Roethlisberger have chosen gifts yet this year, but here's what some other QBs are handing off.

Neither the Seahawks' Matt Hasselbeck--who has given meat lockers full of steaks in the past--nor Steeler Ben Roethlisberger have chosen gifts yet this year, but here's what some other QBs are handing off.

QB Drew Brees, Chargers
Times Sacked
27
Gift
Forty-two-inch plasma television
Gratitude or Attitude?
"When Drew brought these in, I just about soiled myself. This was perfect because I had been about to buy a new TV. It's going right above my fireplace. Drew's a good dude. Make sure you say that."
-- Nick Hardwick, C (above, pointing)

QB Marc Bulger, Rams
Times Sacked
26
Gift
Group dinner at Morton's steak house
Gratitude or Attitude?
"Marc's gotten us bigger stuff before, but he went simple after missing [eight] games. A steak dinner costs a lot with this group. We'll sit around, shoot the breeze; Marc actually likes hanging out with us." --Adam Timmerman, RG

QB David Carr, Texans
Times Sacked
NFL-high 68
Gift
Automatic paintball gun
Gratitude or Attitude?
"Dave's into paintball--he likes to get out there in a sleeveless shirt. We'll have an outing together, but Dave's gun is the nicest. It's like a friggin' machine gun." -- Steve McKinney, C

QB Joey Harrington, Lions
Times Sacked
24
Gift
Bose surround-sound speaker system
Gratitude or Attitude?
"I have speakers, so I gave these away, but I went to the mall to see what Joey had picked. It was top of the line. I was impressed that his uncertain job status [there are rumors he may be released] didn't keep him from showing his appreciation." -- Damien Woody, RG

QB Carson Palmer, Bengals
Times Sacked
19
Gift
Luxury Jacuzzi
Gratitude or Attitude?
"I was just in awe when Carson told us. I'm having mine installed at my house in Arizona. After some of those intense off-season workouts, you need a therapy session." -- Levi Jones, LT

QB Eli Manning, Giants
Times Sacked
28
Gift
Custom suits
Gratitude or Attitude?
"Eli's having a tailor fit us, and we'll pick our fabric and designer. I'm going with a lighter shade for summer. And something modern. I tease Eli [right]--his style is a little old-fashioned." -- Shaun O'Hara, C
