Under Fire
Submarining starter Sunshuke Watanabe of Japan hurled 4 2/3 innings against Korea on Sunday in the World Baseball Classic at the Tokyo Dome. Watanabe left with a 2-1 lead, but Korea rallied for a 3-2 upset and celebrated winning Pool A (inset). Both teams advanced to this week's second round in Anaheim (page 72).

High There
Evelyn Winkler (front) and Milena Sai of Brazil won the silver medal in the women's synchronized 10-meter platform diving final at the South American Aquatic Championships on Sunday in Medell�n, Colombia. A Colombian team (inset), Diana Pineda (front) and Juliana Ochoa, took the gold.
