an opposing team's scout sizes up the Brewers
"THEY'VE GOT some good young players coming up, but it's still going to be a few years before this team is a contender.... I was really surprised they traded Scott Podsednik, a guy who's going to give you 50, 60 steals and was a big part of what they did. But Carlos Lee's presence in the lineup is going to make Geoff Jenkins better.... Lyle Overbay had a terrific season last year, but look for him to drop off a bit. He's a .300 hitter, but he just doesn't have a lot of pop and probably never will.... Russell Branyan is hitting the ball well and having a great spring. This is a guy with a lot of potential, but we'll see if he's learned how to cut down on his strikeouts.... Brady Clark reminds me of Eric Byrnes: He isn't pretty to watch, but he gets the job done.... Pitching is not this team's strength. With Danny Kolb gone, the bullpen is pretty much a mess. They don't have very many good options to close games.... Ben Sheets is legit, but there isn't another power guy in the rotation. Doug Davis wouldn't be much better than a Number 5 starter on a contending team."
