Numbers Racket

Giants punter Jeff Feagles has mastered the secondary uniform market, in which players swap numbers with covetous colleagues. In the past two years he's gotten a Florida vacation (from Eli Manning) and a new kitchen (Plaxico Burress). Here's how the number exchange has fluctuated.

1993

New Blue Jay Rickey Henderson buys number 24 from Turner Ward for $25,000.

1997

Toronto ace Roger Clemens gives Carlos Delgado a $20,000 Rolex after getting his number 21.

2002

Celtic Vin Baker pays Kedrick Brown $10,000 for number 42.

2004

For $20,000, the Bills' Mark Campbell gives number 83 to Lee Evans.

2004

Ifeanyi Ohalete sues the Redskins' Clinton Portis, saying he's owed half of the $40,000 promised for his number 26. The trial begins next month.
