SOUTH BEND > Sprint Kayak

Smoke, a 2000 graduate of Notre Dame and a member of the '04 U.S. Olympic team, won four events at the U.S. trials for the world championships in Olympic sprint kayaking. He will compete at the World Sprint Canoe/Kayak Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, from Aug. 25 to 28.

Debbie Ramirez

MISSION, TEXAS > Equestrian

Ramirez, a senior at Texas A&M, won her second title in individual advanced horsemanship at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national championships. She became the second rider in Aggies history to win more than one individual equestrian national title.

Osayi Osunde

BLOOMSBURG, PA. > Track and Field

Osunde, a recent graduate of Central Columbia High, won the javelin title at the Nike Outdoor national championships. He went undefeated for the season, winning a Penn Relay javelin title and a state title with a meet-record throw (207'10") at the Class AA high school championships.
