Katie, a junior righthander at Spirit Lake High, pitched her 24th shutout of the season as the Indians won the Iowa Class 3A championship. She had a 42--4 record this year with an 0.29 ERA. She also batted .396 with 13 home runs and 65 RBIs.

Travis Timm, LUCAS, TEXAS

Track and Field

Travis, a freshman at Williams High, cleared 13'21/2" to set an AAU national youth record and win the gold medal in the pole vault at the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Des Moines. He has the 2004 best youth (13--14) vault of 13'53/4".

Stefanie Nation, ORLANDO

Bowling

Nation, a junior at Central Florida, bowled a 46game total of 9,219 to defend her title at the 2004 USA Junior Gold Bowling National Championships in Dallas. She became the second woman to win multiple U.S. junior amateur titles in the sport.
