Spencer Simon SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. > TENNIS Spencer, a freshman at Santa Barbara High, won the singles title at the USTA Boys' 14 National Championships at McFarlin Tennis Center in San Antonio. The Southern California sectional champ and the tournament's No. 9 seed defeated No. 10 Jeremy Efferding in the final 6--3, 6--2. He is 70--12 for the past year.

Carter, a senior running back at Bridgewater College, was named to the d3football.com team of the week after rushing for 158 yards and a school-record five touchdowns in the Eagles' 45--19 win over McDaniel. He tied the Old Dominion Athletic Conference TD mark and gained yards on all 22 carries.

NAPERVILLE, ILL. > Track and Field
McKinzie, a sophomore at Benet Academy, won the 2,000-meter steeplechase (7:17.90), placed second in the 1,500 meters and was sixth in the 800 at the AAU Junior Olympics. For the academy last season she was all-state in the 800 meters, 4�400 and 4�800.

'AIEA, HAWAII > Soccer
Ako, a sophomore forward at Hawaii, led the unranked Rainbow Wahine to victory over No. 26 Kansas in the final of the Ohana Hotels & Resorts No Ka 'Oi tournament and was named to the Soccer Buzz national team of the week. She scored three goals in the tournament, including two game-winners, and was MVP.

Max Doran
TRAFFORD, PA. > Track and Field
Max, a seventh-grader at Trafford Middle School, is a three-time Hershey Track and Field North American champion in the standing long jump. He won the 9--10 age group in 2005 with a leap of 7'9" and has won the 11--12 division the last two years with jumps of 8'1" and 8'11".

Anna, a senior at Lincoln East High, won the Nebraska Girls' Amateur and Women's Match Play championships. She won the amateur with a 10-over-par 152 and beat Nebraska sophomore J.C. Stevenson 1 up to win the match play title.
