Ebony, a junior sprinter at Long Beach Wilson High, won the girls' 400-meter hurdles at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Marrakech, Morocco. In June she won four gold medals and ran national bests in three events at the state high school championships.

Scott, a sophomore at Wisconsin-Whitewater, led the USA Junior (under 23) National Wheelchair team to a 73--34 victory over Japan at the Junior World Championships in Birmingham, England. He had 28 points and nine rebounds in the final and was named the tournament MVP.

Neill, 39, the coach of the Macalester Masters swim club, set a world record for both sexes when she swam the backstroke across the English Channel in 13 hours and 22 minutes. She became the first Minnesotan to swim the channel when she made the journey, freestyle, in 2003.
