Janet McDougall began working at this magazine on July
31, 1963, when, she says, "most of the typewriters were still manual."
She started as an ad production assistant, then in '70 moved to the business
office, where for the last 16 years she served as staff operations manager (and
typewriters went the way of the black-and-white TV). Now, at 65, McDougall
(right) is retiring to "find out what else there is in life outside of
SI." Those 43 years went quickly, she says, partly because "I enjoyed
the passion that my coworkers have toward sports. I take great pride in working
at SI all these years."
