Tuchscherer, a cadet 1st class at the Air Force Academy, took first place in
the 275-pound weight class at the International Powerlifting Federation's
junior men's world championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. He bench-pressed 585
pounds, squatted 775, deadlifted 751 and was honored as a Champion of
Champions.

KEENE, N.H. > Cross-country and Soccer
Lucey, a senior at Keene State, won the Keene State Invitational and, later
that afternoon as a striker, scored a goal in the Owls' 3--2 soccer win. She
was named Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III women's runner of
the week after setting a personal-best time (17:36) at the New England
Championships.

EDMONDS, WASH. > Football
Kyle, a junior quarterback at Edmonds-Woodway High, was named Seattle Times
Class 4A state athlete of the week after completing 13 of 15 passes for 306
yards and four touchdowns in a 56--7 win over Mountlake Terrace. He has led the
Warriors to a 7--0 start with 1,338 passing yards and 20 touchdowns so far this
season.

GUADALAJARA, MEXICO > Field Hockey
Campos, a senior forward at the University of the Pacific, scored all of her
team's goals in a 5--1 win over Davidson to give the Tigers their third
consecutive NorPac Conference victory. She leads her 10--6 team in goals (29)
and points (65) for the season; both total are school records.

FONTANA, CALIF. > Soccer
Edu, a junior midfielder at Maryland, scored his first two goals of the season,
both of them game-winners, and was named Soccer America player of the week. He
scored in the 61st minute to give the Terps a 1--0 win over Loyola and three
days later led the team to a 1--0 victory over Duke.
