Smith, a senior righthander at Durham College, became the winningest pitcher in the history of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association with a three-hit shutout of Mohawk. She has a 40--2 career record and an 0.88 ERA and has led the Lords to consecutive OCAA championships.

POMPANO BEACH, FLA. > Harness Racing

Ranger, 44, drove 6-year-old pacer Six of Diamonds to victory in the fastest mile ever at Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H.: 1:49.3. He won 215 races at the track this season, breaking his own track record for wins, and he set records for second- and third-place finishes and most drives.

Chelsea Smith

MEAD, WASH. > Cross-country

Smith, a sophomore at Brigham Young-- Hawaii, won the individual title in the women's 6K race with a time of 21:12, helping lead the Seasiders to a 50-point victory at the Hawaii Pacific University meet. The defending NCAA Division II champion is undefeated in six races this season.
