On Smush Parker (right), the undrafted former NBDL point guard who at week's end was averaging 14.0 points and 3.5 assists starting alongside Kobe Bryant in the Lakers' backcourt:
" Lamar Odom is bringing the ball up and initiating the offense, a lot like how the Bulls used Scottie Pippen. [The Lakers] don't need a true point guard in the triangle offense, but Phil Jackson seems to like Parker because at 6'4" he creates a lot of deflections defensively, and he runs the floor and makes open shots. Plus, he's developed a better understanding of the game since he broke into the league with Cleveland in 2002-03. It's hard for young guys to make an NBA roster because they're always pressing. He's a lot more patient now."
