IS HE FOR
A former walk-on
at Utah, where he played wide receiver, the 6'5", 220-pound Madsen was the
only undrafted rookie free agent to make the Oakland roster this past summer.
On Sunday against the Chargers, he showed why he stuck: three catches
(including a 57-yarder) for 69 yards and a touchdown. The 2--9 Raiders have
little more than pride to play for, a situation well-suited to a scrappy
overachiever like Madsen, whose athleticism (4.6 speed in the 40 and a 37
1/2-inch vertical leap) should not be overlooked.
