Coach Les Miles's gamble on fourth-and-15 at the end of the first half paid off. Instead of attempting a 32-yard field goal, Miles had holder Matt Flynn flip the ball behind his head to kicker Colt David (6), who accelerated past the dumbfounded Gamecocks into the end zone.

The Green Wave led the Tigers 9-7 with 1:40 to go in the first half but could do nothing to stop the LSU offensive deluge that followed. Thanks in part to Charles Scott (32), who touched the ball only six times but scored twice, the Tigers strung together 27 unanswered points.
