TAUREAN GREEN, G
10 ppg, 7 apg in first two rounds
HE IS the least hyped of Florida's future NBA draft picks, but in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament point guard Taurean Green might have been most vital to the Gators' success. Their trouble in the first half against Jackson State and Purdue coincided with Green's struggles. But a great player is a malleable one, willing to bend to what the defense gives him. In the second half against Jackson State, Green dished his way to a career-high 12 assists. He had 14 points (10 in the second half) against Purdue after what he called his worst first half of the season. "I think it was maturity, knowing that there was still time to do what we needed to do to win," Green said after that victory. "We slowed down, and I got us into our sets and then made them guard us." The Gators are an emotional bunch, but it is Green who channels that emotion on offense.
