WITH FOUR TITLES
IN NINE SEASONS THE SPURS HAVE BEEN A FORCE TO BE reckoned with in the NBA, but
that was not always the case. The franchise went 22 seasons before claiming the
NBA's grandest prize. The team's first mention on SPORTS ILLUSTRATED's front
page came during David Robinson's rookie year in San Antonio, but not until
after Tim Duncan hit town, in '97, did the Spurs become a regular cover
subject. With the emphatic victory over LeBron James and the Cavaliers, it's
certain that Duncan and his long arms will continue to grace SI's covers for a
long time to come.
