NICKNAMED the Snake for his ability to slither out of trouble, Stabler led the Tide to a 28-3-2 record in his three years as a player in Tuscaloosa. As a starter in '66 he led Alabama to an 11-0 mark and threw for 218 yards (and rushed for 40 yards) to win Most Valuable Player honors in the '67 Orange Bowl.
DERRICK THOMAS
LB | CAREER: 1985-88
HIGHLIGHTS: 204 tackles, 52 sacks, 10 forced fumbles
THOMAS'S talent for sacking quarterbacks earned him a reputation as one of the country's most feared defensive players. As a junior in 1987 he established a school record with 18 sacks. The following year he won the Butkus Award with a 27-sack season, the best in Crimson Tide history.

HIGHLIGHTS: All-America (1972)
REGARDED as one of the best college offensive linemen ever, Hannah also was one of Alabama's best all-around athletes. In addition to being named all-SEC twice ('71 and '72), Hannah lettered on the track and wrestling teams.
LEE ROY JORDAN
LB | CAREER: 1960-62
HIGHLIGHTS: All-America (1962)
A CAPTAIN on the '62 team and finalist for the Heisman Trophy that season, Jordan had 31 tackles in the '63 Orange Bowl, earning the game's MVP and praise from the Bear: "If they stay within the boundaries," Bryant said, " Lee Roy will get 'em."
SHAUN ALEXANDER
RB | CAREER: 1996-99
HIGHLIGHTS: 3,565 rushing yards, 41 rushing touchdowns, 4.9 yards per carry
ALEXANDER was named the 1999 SEC Player of the Year after rushing for 1,383 yards and scoring 24 total touchdowns. He finished seventh in the Heisman voting that season and ended his career at Alabama with a school-best 727 rushing attempts and 15 100-yard games, as well as 50 total touchdowns.
