CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Jimmie Johnson, 525 (+15 over Kurt Busch)
WHAT HAPPENED: Johnson's victory, the 15th of his Cup career and his fifth in nine races stretching back to 2004, spoiled the homecoming for Las Vegas natives Kyle and Kurt Busch, who finished second and third, respectively.

ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY, HAMPTON, GA.
WINNER: Carl Edwards POLE SITTER: Ryan Newman
CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Jimmie Johnson, 680 (+82 over Greg Biffle)
WHAT HAPPENED: A day after winning his first Busch race, Edwards (99) caught Johnson (48) on the final lap. Johnson fishtailed a few feet from the finish, allowing Edwards to slip by for his first Nextel Cup win.

4/3 FOOD CITY 500
BROSTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY, BRISTOL, TENN.
WINNER: Kevin Harvick POLE SITTER: Elliott Sadler

WHAT HAPPENED: Despite being forced by last-minute repairs to start at the back of the field, Harvick (29) was able to charge past 42 cars, including a spinning Matt Kenseth (17), and take the victory.

WHAT HAPPENED: Gordon (24) rebounded from being three laps down to earn an emotional win six months after 10 members of the Hendrick Motorsports team, for which he drives, died in a plane crash en route here.

WHAT HAPPENED: After Biffle wrecked his primary car (above) in Saturday's practice, four crews from Roush Racing's Nextel Cup and Busch teams worked feverishly to prepare his backup--which he had also driven to victory at Fontana.

PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, AVONDALE, ARIZ.WINNER: Kurt Busch POLE SITTER: Jeff Gordon

WHAT HAPPENED: Busch (at the head of the field, above) led 219 of the race's 312 laps and put a streak of bad luck behind him as he took his first checkered flag of the year, 2.315 seconds ahead of runner-up Michael Waltrip.

TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY, TALLADEGA, ALA.

WHAT HAPPENED: The race had to be stopped for 43 minutes after a massive pileup on Lap 133 took out more than half the field. Gordon (24), the new king of restrictor-plate racing, avoided trouble by staying up front.
