Connie, 18, set four unofficial national high school records during her four years as a softball player for Mount Morris High: as a pitcher, for most career (103) and season wins (41); and on offense, for most career runs (171) and hits (203).

APEX, N.C.
Hawley, a freshman at the University of Richmond, set a state season stolen-base record with 41 in his last year at Apex Senior High. He batted .590, had a slugging percentage of .885 and played all nine positions for the Cougars.

NIKKI CHECKETTS
FARMINGTON, UTAH
Nikki, 10, a second baseman for the Farmington Red Sox and the only girl on the team, hit .690 during the regular season. In the district final—a 31-9 victory over the Ogden All-Stars—she had three hits, two walks and four runs.

KYLE BROWN
MCKEES ROCKS, PA.
Brown, 19, set four age-group (18-19) powerlifting records in the 275-pound weight class at the teenage national championships in Rockport, Maine, by bench-pressing 473� pounds, deadlifting 738� and squatting 843� for a 2,055�-pound total.

DAVE WRIGHT
PARKERSBURG, W. VA.
Wright, 34, has coached Parkersburg High to 13 state tennis championships in eight years. The Big Red boys' team has now won 10 straight titles and the girls' five straight. Both squads beat Jefferson County 6-0 for their titles.

LORI BATTISTA
MARSHFIELD, MASS.
Lori, 10, led the Sacred Heart Elementary School in Kingston to an 18-0 season record and the Coastal League soccer championship. She had 27 goals, 11 of them game winners, and she scored at least one in 17 consecutive games.
