James, representing the Durham Striders Track Club, broke Freeman Miller's 1980 triple-jump record by 3�" with a 51'9�", and Chambers, of the Unique Track Club, jumped 24'2�" to surpass the long-jump mark of 24'�" set in 1980 by John Dial and equaled in 1984 by Terrance Parks.
