MILTON KUYKENDALL
HICKORY FLAT, MISS.

Malcolm, 35, coached the Belmont High Lady Cardinals to their first state basketball title in 35 years. His 1976-77 boys' and 1980-81 and '81-82 girls' teams at Pine Grove High also won state crowns. His twin brother, Milton, who's married to Malcolm's wife's twin sister, coached the Hickory Flat High boys' team to the Class B championship. Their sister, Maxine Hall, 38, coaches girls' high school basketball in Birmingham. Their father, Ira, 70, was a basketball coach for 38 seasons.

BRIAN WOOD
ANNAPOLIS
Brian, a senior attackman for the St. Mary's High lacrosse team, has amassed 152 goals and 135 assists in his four-year career. An All-America as a junior, he has led the Saints to a 47-3 record; all three of the losses were by a single goal.

ANGELA WILLIAMS
BROOKLYN
Angela, 17, of the Flashette Track Club, broke her own national high school girls' marks in the 200 meters and 220 yards with times of 24.01 and 24.10, respectively. She has also run the third-best high school girls' 300 yards (35.26).

NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO
Lair, 25, a senior center for the Oswego (N.Y.) State hockey team, set ECAC Division II career records for points (352) and goals (166). Twice the ECAC Player of the Year, he also tied conference season standards in goals (48) and assists (63).

JOHN HUDSPETH
DALLAS
John, a fifth-grader at the St. Bernard School, recorded four firsts at the All-American age-group swimming meet, breaking his own 10-and-under 32.55 mark in the 50-yard backstroke with a 31.90 and winning the 50 fly and free and 100 free.
