Nelson, 34, a two-time member of the U.S. Olympic Biathlon team, won his fifth straight Sierra Mountain triathlon, held in Squaw Valley, Calif. He skied cross-country 6.2 miles, ran 6.2 and cycled 18.6 in a course-record 1:51:58.

Kim, 17, and Beth, 15, both students at Padua Academy in Wilmington, Del., led the school's girls' track team to a 12-0 season and the Delaware Division I girls' championship. During the state individual and team meets in Dover, Kim had firsts in the 100-meter low hurdles with a time of 15.1 seconds and the 300, run in a state high school girls' record time of 45.2. Beth had second-place finishes in the 200 (25.2) and 400 (56.6) meter dashes, and a third in the 100.

KEVIN WHIPPLE
DUNCAN, OKLA.
Kevin, a senior at Duncan High, shot a 5-over-par 221 for 54 holes to win his third consecutive state class 3A golf championship, in Norman. He was 10 strokes ahead of the runner-up and also led the Demons to their I second straight team title.

KAREN MOHLING
GLENCOE, ILL.
Mohling, a senior at the University of Washington, led the Huskies to their third straight national collegiate women's rowing title, on Lake Wingra in Madison, Wis. She was in the winning boat all three years and captained the '83 crew.

CHARLIE HARRINGTON
MANOMET, MASS.
Harrington, a senior inside center at Babson College, scored the deciding try in his club's 12-9 win over Amherst in the New England Small College Rugby Tournament title game. He is a founding member of the 4-year-old Babson club.
