A few weeks later, Marilyn Classen filed a multimillion-dollar damage suit against the New York commission.

Goodman's committee is now into the second part of its inquiry, a look at commission procedures and regulations, promoting, matchmaking and the possibility of future federal supervision. Unless the senator and his committee take a very hard look at what goes on in boxing, and initiate sorely needed reforms that are also adopted nationwide, the sport will continue as it has in the past, and Willie Classen's death will have little meaning.
