NEW CANAAN, CONN.
Jex, a freshman swimmer at Williams, was a winner in five events at the AIAW Division III championships—the 50- and 100-yard freestyle (24.72, 52.80), and 100 medley (1:00.68), in addition to legs on Williams' two winning relay teams.

GRANT SLATER
HAMILTON, N.Y.
Grant, 12, a center on the Hamilton Pee Wee hockey team, scored 147 goals and had 83 assists in leading the Nighthawks to a 29-9 record and the state C Division championship. His father coaches the hockey team at Colgate University.

GINA FARKASHAZY
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
Farkashazy, a Wayne State freshman, defeated Joy Ellingson of San Jose State to win the individual title at the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association championships at Ohio State. She had a 14-1 record in the tournament.

WARREN RUTLEDGE
RICHMOND
Rutledge, the 48-year-old coach of Benedictine High's basketball team, guided the Cadets to their 10th consecutive state AAA Catholic championship. In his 23 seasons, he has led the Cadets to a 537-145 record and 16 state titles.

ANNE SULLIVAN
CRANSTON, R.I.
Sullivan, who is a junior at Brown, established an American women's record in the Cherry Blossom 10-mile run in Washington, D.C. with a clocking of 55:34, eight seconds better than the mark set by Joan Benoit last year.
