YERINGTON, NEV.
Debbie, a junior at Yerington High, won eight events (the open 200-meter freestyle, backstroke and IM and the 15-18 50-meter free and butterfly and 100-meter free, back and IM) at the state B League swimming championships at Lovelock.

JOHN HANCOCK
STOCKTON, CALIF.
John, a recent graduate of Edison High, completed a three-year tennis career with a 45-0 league record and three San Joaquin Athletic Association singles titles. The streak began in 1978 and ended this year with wins over David Neal of Lodi High.

SHEILA EVANS
PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA
Evans, 65 years old, beat Wilma Smith 6-4, 6-0 to win the USTA Women's 65 Hard Court title in Los Angeles; teamed with Bill Hussey, 64, to win the mixed-doubles title; and with Marga Lee Mahony, 66, reached the finals of the women's doubles.

LaVONNA MARTIN
TROTWOOD, OHIO
LaVonna, 13, won the girls' 200-meter hurdles at The Athletic Congress national age-group meet in Tempe and 400 dash at the Track and Field Association nationals in Dayton, setting meet (12-13) records of 28.1 and 56.3, respectively.

BRIAN BURKE
WARWICK, R.I.
Brian, a recent Pilgrim High graduate, hit .491 and had a 5-2 pitching record in pacing the Patriots to the Metropolitan state baseball title. Also a three-time all-state basketball player, he averaged 26.8 points a game this year.
