Kim, 10, averaged 2.11 strikeouts an inning and allowed only 68 hits in 154 innings to lead the Belleville Kiwanis Club fast-pitch Softball team to victory at the Tri-State championships played in St. Louis. She was 23-3, with three no-hitters.

PEMBROKE, BERMUDA
Selley, 25, a marine mechanic, won Bermuda's Round the Island powerboat race for the fourth time in five years. He piloted his 21-foot Challenger around the 60-mile, heavily shoaled course in the record time of 48:35.

KAY CORNELIUS
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ.
Kay, 14, won the U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur Golf championship 2 and 1 over Kim Simmons of Charleston, S.C., thus becoming the youngest player to hold the title. She was also the medalist in the U.S. Women's Public Links Amateur.

CURTIS JOHNSON JR.
PALMETTO, FLA.
Curtis, 7, competing at the Florida Athletic Congress Junior Olympics, won the 200-meter dash (30.6) and the long jump (12'7") in the 10-and-under age group. He also finished second, by .1, in the 100 meters, with a clocking of 14.3.

GLENDA HARTMAN
ALEXANDRIA, S. DAK.
Glenda, a senior forward at Hanson High, got 41 points and 22 rebounds to pace the Beaverettes to a 69-59 win over Spencer High. In her first three varsity years she scored 1,018 points, had 913 rebounds and was twice named All-State.

MICHAEL SHERMER
TUSTIN, CALIF.
Shermer, a 27-year-old psych teacher, broke his own world record for cycling from Seattle to San Diego. He rode his 12-speed Bianchi the 1,400 miles in 4 days, 14 hours, 15 minutes, covering the last 501 miles nonstop in 32 hours.
